Tube Rack

The tube rack holds all the tubes in position in the AIM500 block. It also enables all the tubes to be moved as one. A hinged side panel provides access to view the tubes during the digestion process. Non-corroding PTFE side handles allow the rack to be handled at any time during the process.

Cooling stand

The cooling stand suspends the tube rack above the block or bench to facilitate rapid cooling of the digestion tubes. When mounted on the block, there are guide slots in each side to assist the user to locate the tube rack in the digestion (down) or cooling (raised) positions.

Digestion tubes - glass

The standard digestion tubes are manufactured from high quality borosilicate glass tubes and are available in three sizes - 75ml, 100ml and 250ml. The tubes feature a round bottom and profiling to match the AIM500 for maximum heat transfer. There are two styles:
- volumetric tubes with a calibration mark for accurate dilutions and a neck constriction for optimizing refluxing
- straight sided tubes with no calibration mark and no neck restriction.

Teardrop stoppers

Glass teardrop stoppers are used to enhance refluxing during the digestion and to protect the contents of each tube from possible contamination. They sit on top of the digestion tubes and are available in two sizes to fit 75ml/100ml tubes and 250ml tubes.

Splash heads

A variation of the teardrop stopper that allows for the safe addition of reagents during digestion as well as reflux enhancement. Available for 250ml digestion tubes only.

Digestion tubes - PTFE and Quartz

As HF dissolves glass, PTFE digestion tubes are used for HF digestions . PTFE vessels are available as 65ml tubes with caps (50 place block) or 125ml flat bottom tubes (28 place block). Quartz digestion tubes for ultra purity work are available on request.

Kjeltabs

Kjeltabs are used to improve Kjeldahl digestions. They consist of salt and a metal catalyst compressed into a tablet form for convenience. The salt, usually Potassium Sulphate, increases the boiling point of the digestion acid. Temperatures in excess of 373ºC significantly reduce the digestion time. The acid to salt ratio is critical to achieving the best conditions. These tablets are designed so that 2 tablets and either 5-7 ml or 12-15 ml acid (depending on tube size) will create optimal conditions.

Boiling stones Boiling stones prevent or minimize bumping during the heating of acids in the digestion tube. Available in glass or PTFE.
