RoHS
Policy
The
purpose of European Union (EU) Directive 2002/95/EC is to reduce
the waste management problems linked to substances likely to pose
risks to personal health and the environment. The RoHS (Restriction
of Hazardous Substances) directive specifically addresses the reduction
of use and ultimate prohibition of the following substances in electrical
and electronic products:
- Lead
- Cadmium
- Hexavalent
Chromium
- Mercury
- PBBs
(Polybrominated biphenyls)
- PBDEs
(Polybrominated diphenyl ethers)
The
RoHS and equivalent directives avoid the use of these hazardous
substances in products placed into the European market to take effect
from July 1 st 2006

to the market will meet these requirements.
